Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett with your weekly announcements as we enter week 28 and the 4th quarter of the school year. Quarter 3 concluded last Friday, and our district will begin sending all report cards through emailed to the student’s district email address starting on March 30th.

Tomorrow, Monday, March 22, students will have advisory class beginning at 9am over Teams. It is important that students login on time, as teachers will be taking attendance for the day. Following advisory, students will be working on asynchronous assignments from each of their classes. Our students in targeted support groups will come in again from 9:30-12:30 with their small cohort. Immediately after advisory, our counselors will be sharing the last workshop in our Student Success Strategies Series on self-advocacy and school resources.  We will be restarting the series as well as adding lessons around mindfulness, stress, and coping skills. Students can access those meetings over Teams through the Counseling Teams, and the links will be shared by advisory teachers.

On Tuesday, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday. Following this week is Spring Break, during which time students will not have school. We will resume on Tuesday, April 6th, at which time, 7th grade students that have chosen to return, will be on a hybrid schedule. Those that chose to remain distance will continue in the same way they do now. Our 8th grade students that chose a hybrid option to be in person will begin the following week, April 13th.

We continue to develop plans and guidelines for a safe return of students to campus following the break, for those that chose to be in person. You can expect to see a lot of information this week regarding the reopening of schools as we receive schedules and more detailed information from district. We will begin posting items mid to late week with regard to campus maps, diagrams, plans, and transportation once it is received, so that students that are planning to be on campus can begin looking through with their families. We will be putting out additional messengers this week as those plans are posted to our website.

School Site Council Members, we will be meeting this week on Wednesday, March 24th to look over the Single Plan for Student Achievement. That meeting is over Zoom at 6pm.

Parents: every year, our Federal Government and State requires us to inform parents of the current year’s statewide assessment and provide them with an opportunity to opt out. As you know, our Fresno Unified students are mandated to take statewide tests to provide us with valuable information about how well they are learning and becoming college and career ready. The test results are used for local, state, and federal accountability purposes.  Please review the attached letter in English, Spanish, or Hmong, and please call our school if you have any questions: 559-457-2640 . Thank you.

To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 549-3758.

Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. We highly encourage students to use these resources.

Our Tiger Pantry is available for students that may have needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. You can put in a request on our website at computechstudents.com under “For Students.”

Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please call ahead and park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office.

March is arts in our schools month. Our quote of the week from renowned painter, Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Students, we encourage you to continue to use your imaginations, to aspire to greatness, and continue to be creative in your approach to the world and how to improve it. Have a great week Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett with your weekly announcements as we enter week 27 of the school year. First, a reminder that the end of the 3rd quarter is this coming Friday, March 19th. Please be sure to check ATLAS for assignments and grades and communicate with your teachers.

Tomorrow, Monday, March 15, students will have advisory class beginning at 9am over Teams. It is important that students login on time, as teachers will be taking attendance for the day. Following advisory, students will be working on asynchronous assignments from each of their classes. Our students in targeted support groups will come in again from 9:30-12:30 with their small cohort.

On Tuesday, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday.

Attention Computech Tournament of Technology Students. Your coaches have been reaching out to you by email this week. Please make sure to check your FUSD email and respond to your coaches. If you did not receive an email message this week, please send an email to Mr. Vizthum to let him know you are still interested in participating.

We have TWO students from Computech representing all of FUSD in the Middle School level of the county spelling bee tomorrow. Danna Cervantes Mosquada and Maeve Peterson will be spelling to earn a spot to move on to the Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington DC! Since we are doing a virtual bee this year, they are live-streaming the event on YouTube at 9:00 on Monday at this link: https://youtu.be/SVmFpXf_LLw. Go get ‘em Tigers!

To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 549-3758.

A reminder that Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. We highly encourage students to use these resources.

A reminder that our Tiger Pantry is available for students that may have needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. You can put in a request on our website at computechstudents.com under “For Students.”

Our district is planning to reopen schools in a hybrid model when we return from Spring Break on April 6th for our 7th grade students and the following week, April 13th for our 8th grade students. For information on those schedules, please go to our website and on the main page is a PowerPoint presentation that shares what that looks like. You can also find information at www.fresnounified.org/covid19. Families may choose to have their student continue in distance learning in the current format, or can elect to have their student come 2 days each week in person, and the remainder of the time will be over distance learning. Our class schedules will remain exactly the same and teachers will be teaching students simultaneously. Our district has sent out a survey that needs to be completed by Tuesday, March 16th, so that we know which students will return in a hybrid format and which students will continue over distance. That link is in the PowerPoint on our website as well as on district’s website.

For the remainder of this school year, we will be following the Fresno Unified Standard of Dress. We do not want to place an undue hardship on our families with our standard of dress in light of the circumstances. We do expect to return to Computech standard of dress for the next school year. A reminder that items must not promote drugs, violence, or vulgarity, in order to be school appropriate.

Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please call ahead and park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office.

March is arts in our schools month. Students, join us in the lunchtime lounge this week and participate in an art contest to draw a member of our Computech Staff. The art piece with the most likes will earn you a pizza prize. Our quote of the week comes from former First Lady, Michelle Obama, “The arts and humanities define who we are as a people. That is their power -- to remind us of what we each have to offer, and what we all have in common. To help us understand our history and imagine our future. To give us hope in the moments of struggle and to bring us together when nothing else will.” We would all do well to remember the things that we have in common, our humanity, our care and concern for one another, and our desire to live peaceably, to give and receive kindness, and to be of value to others. Despite challenging times, let’s show our human kindness. Have a great week Tigers!

Following these presentations, students will be working on asynchronous assignments from each of their classes.

March is arts in our schools month. Our quote of the week comes from poet, Dana Gioia, “The purpose of arts education is not to produce more artists, though that is a byproduct. The real purpose of arts education is to create complete human beings capable of leading successful and productive lives in a free society.” We know that we have students with many talents, and encourage you to develop all of your talents and skills to reach your greatest potential and contribute to society. Have a great week Tigers!
