Week 31: 4-18-2021

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett. It was a joy to see some of our 7th and 8th grade students on campus this last week. It brings life back to the campus and smiles to our faces to see our students. We are now headed into week 31.

Monday we have advisory at 9am and asynchronous learning following, with small targeted cohorts from 9:30am-12:30pm. Tuesday through Friday schedules will remain the same. All students in cohort A will be in person on Tuesday and Wednesday, while cohort B students will attend in person on Thursday and Friday.

For students in cohorts A and B, a reminder that we need to remain socially distanced and wear masks while on campus. Prior to coming to campus, all students must take the health screener. If a student does not feel well on campus, we have to call parents to pick up the student, as they will not be able to ride the bus if they do not feel well. You can view the reopening PowerPoint on www.computechstudents.com for more details.

Transportation schedules are on www.fresnounified.org and we have also put them up on our website at www.computechstudents.com. Please note there is a schedule for Tuesday-Friday in the morning for transportation to Edison/Computech and then there is a schedule for Tuesday-Friday in the afternoon for routes home. There is a separate schedule for Monday targeted groups.

For parents that drop off students, please see the map on our website. We ask that cars enter from church and Fairview, enter into the East Parking lot just north of the Hinton Center, circle through the parking lot, and drop your student off nearest the double gates. This helps to keep traffic flowing.

At the end of each day, students that are picked up need to be near the east parking lot, while those that are riding the bus must report to the cafeteria where they are to wait until buses arrive. This ensures that students are supervised and safe. Students should not be wandering off campus or to the high school.

This week our 4th quarter sports have tryouts. Students interested should visit our athletics page on www.computechstudents.com/athletics. There you can find schedules for each of the sports, along with contact information for coaches. Students must have an athletic packet turned in to be able to participate in tryouts and practices. There will be one athletic bus that departs at 4:15pm, but will be taking all students home, making multiple stops around the district, so we encourage athletes to be picked up when possible to avoid a very long ride home with a late arrival. Once games start, athletes will need to get picked up on game days as there will not be buses available to take students home on game days.

Our Tiger Pantry is available for students that may have needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. You can put in a request on our website at computechstudents.com under “For Students.”

Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office.

Our quote of the week from novelist, Gail Tsukiyama, "Don’t ever think that just because you do things differently, you’re wrong." We all have our own unique talents and perspectives that make us who we are. Sharing those perspectives and talents with others is how we make a better world. Consider this week something that you might do differently than others and what you can learn from, or teach to others to increase in knowledge. Have a great week Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett. We enjoyed having some of our seventh grade students on campus this last week. Thank you students for your smiles and positive attitudes and for following our safety guidelines on campus. We are now headed into week 30 and we will be welcoming back some of our 8th grade students in person along with our 7th graders this week.

Our overall schedule remains the same, with advisory and asynchronous learning on Monday with small targeted cohorts from 9:30am-12:30pm. Tuesday through Friday schedules will remain the same schedules with Tuesday and Thursday odd period classes and Wednesday and Friday even period classes. Students in cohort C that are continuing over distance will continue in the same manner as before the break.

This week, all students in cohort A will be in person on Tuesday and Wednesday, while cohort B students will attend in person on Thursday and Friday.

For students in cohorts A and B, we ask that families visit www.computechstudents.com and review the Reopening PowerPoint that is located there, which contains information for drop off, passing/break, lunch, and dismissal, along with campus maps and expectations. This has a couple of updates over the weekend as we make adjustments. Prior to coming to campus, please make sure that all students take the health screener. If a student does not feel well on campus, we have to call parents to pick up the student, as they will not be able to ride the bus if they do not feel well. Also a reminder that all students must wear masks and socially distance while on campus.

There is a separate schedule for Monday targeted groups that remains the same as prior to break.

For parents that are planning on dropping off your students, please see the map on our website. We ask that cars enter from church and Fairview, enter into the East Parking lot just north of the Hinton Center, circle through the parking lot, and drop your student off  nearest the double gates. This helps to keep traffic flowing.

School Site Council Members, we have a scheduled meeting on Monday, April 12th to vote on our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). That meeting is over Zoom at 6pm Monday. Click here to view the agenda for that meeting, including the link to the meeting.

Our quote of the week from writer, William Arthur Ward, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” As we go through each day, let us be people of action, making positive things happen for us and for others. Have a great week Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett hoping that you have all enjoyed your Spring break. We are headed into week 29 of the school year and we are excited to welcome some of our students back in person this week. Our overall schedule remains the same, with advisory and asynchronous learning on Mondays with small targeted cohorts from 9:30am-12:30pm. Tuesday through Friday schedules will remain the same schedules, and students in cohort C that are continuing over distance will continue in the same manner as before the break. This week, all 8th grade students will continue over distance learning.
7th grade students in cohort A will be in person tomorrow, April 6th and will be attending their odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. This same group will also be in person on Wednesday, April 7th, attending even period classes. 7th grade students in cohort B will be in person on Thursday, April 8th and Friday, April 9th.
As a reminder our 8th grade cohorts A and B will begin in-person learning next week, starting on April 13th.
For students in cohorts A and B, we ask that families visit www.computechstudents.com and review the Reopening PowerPoint that is located there, which contains information for drop off, passing/break, lunch, and dismissal, along with campus maps and expectations. School Site Council Members, we have a scheduled meeting on Wednesday, April 7th that we would like to move back to Thursday, April 8th due to a conflict. That meeting will still be held at 6pm that evening. Click here for the agenda, containing the link to the meeting .
Our Tiger Pantry is available for students that may have needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. You can put in a request on our website at computechstudents.com under “For Students.”

Finally, I would like to take a moment to share that Computech is one of just 5 secondary schools in Fresno County that is being recognized as a California Distinguished School. This award is given to schools that have closed the achievement gap and demonstrate exceptional student performance. This is a testament to the work of our teachers, supporting staff, students, and families. Thank you for continuing to strive to do your best, despite challenges. Which leads me to our quote of the week from Albert Einstein, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” This last year has been challenging, but we are learning through our experiences. I hope that you have found strengths within yourself that you may not have known before, and an ability to overcome adversity. Look for the opportunities each day, look for the wins, for the good in the world, and let’s share those to encourage those around us. Remember, attitude determines altitude. Have a great week Tigers!
