Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter in our 6th week of the school year. This week we will begin on Monday with odd block schedule. Students will be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 tomorrow, and then attending even block periods on Tuesday. Progress reports were sent out from district office through email last week. This is not a final grade, but a progress check. If you have questions, we encourage you to reach out to teachers via email, or setup a virtual meeting during teacher office hours. You can email teachers directly from ATLAS by clicking on the teacher’s name in the Summary page where it lists students’ classes. Ms. Lewis is continuing to reach out to students who have not completed their iReady diagnostic. A reminder that these diagnostics in Math and English Language Arts help to inform our teaching practice and we encourage students to finish up strong this week. Mr. Brown continues with our Tiger Lunchtime Lounge during lunch each day for students that would like to connect and chat together. You can join the conversation by going into Teams, and on the page where all of your classes are located, in the top right corner click on “Join or Create Teams”, then enter the code, zx8uc04. If you want your student to have access to the ASES After School Program, please go to the link on the Computech website under the After School tab and fill out the enrollment survey. That gives us permission to put your student into a specific Team based on their grade level so they will be getting help with their classmates. Students will receive an invitation through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm each day. Students can utilize it at their convenience. The program is free and open to all students. Students will follow the same classroom protocols after school as they do in their regular classes. The Fresno Unified monitoring system, Gaggle, monitors student technology after school as well as during the school day, including what is downloaded onto devices, items that are shared through chat, posting, emails, and live meetings. Student activity MUST be appropriate during the After School Program; we will remove a student from the After School program for inappropriate activity. All our tutoring sessions are recorded. Our Tiger Pantry is available to help with needed resources and supplies for our students. Navigate to our website and point at “For Students” and then click on the Tiger Pantry to make requests. Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm at 457-2640 if you are in need of support, or if you need a device, you can reach out to our site. Our Librarian, Mrs. Ward, has been very helpful with technology and device distribution and you can contact her during the school day on her Google line at 549-3758. Finally, as we enter into election time, and with many differing ideas and opinions, I would like to remind our students and families of the importance of being understanding of different perspectives. Now perhaps more than ever we need to be thoughtful, kind, and respectful toward others, and even toward ourselves. Please treat others with kindness and respect even, and especially when you might not agree with them. Your quote of the week from basketball great, Michael Jordan, “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.” Failure is a part of learning and growth, as long as we choose to reflect and improve. We are all learning an online school environment right now. As your progress reports just came out, it is a time for reflection and growth. Please reach out to your teachers and give your best effort, knowing we are here to help, and our teachers and support staff are committed to our students success in learning and life. Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter week 7 of the school year. This week we will begin on Monday with even block schedule. Students will be attending periods 2, 4, 6, and 8 tomorrow, and then attending odd block periods on Tuesday. Progress reports were delayed, but should have been sent out from district office through email last week. This is not a final grade, but a progress check. If you have questions, we encourage you to reach out to teachers via email, or setup a virtual meeting during teacher office hours. You can email teachers directly from ATLAS by clicking on the teacher’s name in the Summary page where it lists students’ classes. So that you are aware, the first quarter ends on Friday, October 9th. If you want your student to have access to the ASES After School Program, please go to the link on the Computech website under the After School tab and fill out the enrollment survey. That allows us to provide them an invitation through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. Students can utilize it at their convenience. The program is free and open to all students. A reminder for our students still working to complete their iReady diagnostic #1. The deadline is September 30, 2020. Ms. Lewis has been reaching out to students that still need to complete their diagnostics. Please be sure that all activity on computers is appropriate, following our district technology acceptable use policy. One particular area to be aware of is images that show in student’s profiles, that even when changed, may take an indefinite amount of time to reset. Please make sure that images, words, and all communications are school appropriate at all times. Mr. Brown continues with our Tiger Lunchtime Lounge. You can join the conversation by going into Teams, clicking on “Join or Create Teams”, and entering the code, zx8uc04. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, your quote of the week from American Labor Leader, Dolores Huerta, “We must use our lives to make the world a better place to live, not just to acquire things. That is what we are put on the earth for.” What can you do each day to make the world a little better? Who can you lift up? What can you help to improve? We all have talents that can improve the world, use them for good. Tigers, let’s find a way to make someone smile each day this week. Have a Great Week and Go Tigers! |
