Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter week 11 of the school year. This week we will begin on Monday with even block schedule. Students will be attending periods 2, 4, 6, and 8 tomorrow, and then attending odd block periods on Tuesday.

To better support students with distance learning, the district has launched a new partnership with Tutor.com to provide free online tutoring. Through Tutor.com, students can access homework and tutoring support in more than 120 subjects at the very moment they need it, even if it’s late at night or on the weekend. This exciting student support tool launched district-wide the week of Oct. 12 and is available every weekday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 AM and 24 hours on weekends. Students can access the service by logging into Clever and selecting tutor.com.

If you want your student to have access to the ASES After School Program, please go to the link on the Computech website under the After School tab and fill out the enrollment survey. That allows us to provide them an invitation through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. Students can utilize it at their convenience. The program is free and open to all students.

Students are able to check out books from the Library. There is a tutorial on the Library page of computechstudents.com demonstrating how to request books. Students can pick up books Monday through Friday from 8am-3:45pm. If you have questions, you can call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758.

Mr. Brown continues with our Tiger Lunchtime Lounge. You can join the fun by going into Teams, clicking on “Join or Create Teams”, and entering the code, zx8uc04.  This week, a Halloween Costume Challenge Channel has been added, where students are able to post a costume picture for a chance to win pizza prizes.  With regard to Halloween, students are able to dress up in attending classes on Friday, following Fresno Unified School District Standards of Dress, meaning that these costumes must not promote violence, drugs, alcohol, or involve weapons.  We encourage students to participate in dressing up Friday, October 30th.

Parents and students, we recognize that there are both challenges and opportunities associated with distance learning.  One of the most important keys to success during distance learning is for students to be active participants.  This includes unmuting and responding to teachers and peers, participating in class and small group discussions, utilizing the chat appropriately to communicate, and reaching out to teachers via Teams or email when needed.  It becomes much more challenging for students that are not active in their learning, as it becomes difficult at times to know if students are truly present when cameras are off and there is no communication through voice, chat, or email.  Please encourage your student to be actively communicating with teachers, that is currently the most critical indicator for students’ success.

Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640.

Your quote of the week American author, coach, motivational speaker, and philanthropist, Tony Robbins, “Remember that you are in charge of your life. You can do anything that you set your mind to. Get in the right frame of mind, set some goals and attack the week. Be proactive and take charge and remember that you are awesome.” Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!

  Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter week 10 of the school year.  You can find this communication on www.computechstudents.com under the “Announcements” tab. This week we will begin on Monday with odd block schedule. Students will be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 tomorrow, and then attending even block periods on Tuesday.

We started a very small cohort of students on campus last week, that remain learning online, but are in a safe and stable working environment with internet access.  These students still participate in online classes, as we make a very slow and deliberate effort across our district to provide a safe and stable learning environment with high quality instruction during a pandemic.  We will continue online learning at least in secondary, through this semester, while we continue to bring small cohorts on campus in a safe manner, as regulations allow.  For more information on our district's stance on bringing students on campuses, you can find information on fresnounified.org.

Thank you to our Leadership students, Ms. Valdivia, and Ms. Reedy for putting on our first ever virtual rally last Friday during lunch.  It was fun seeing students’ talents. This last week, Counselor Ortiz presented on Schools of Choice and High School Pathways for our 8th grade students.  If you have questions, please contact Counselor Ortiz.

To better support students with distance learning, the district has launched a new partnership with Tutor.com to provide free online tutoring. Parents and students can view the walkthrough tutorial using this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlAGdR1scQs&ab_channel=Tutor.com

If you want your student to have access to the ASES After School Program, please go to the link on the Computech website under the After School tab and fill out the enrollment survey. Your quote of the week from professional boxer, activist, and philanthropist, Muhammad Ali, “What you're thinking is what you're becoming.”  We encourage our students to be thinking positively about their interests and pursuits.  To think critically, ask questions, and look to solve problems.  Spend your time in thoughts and activities that are worthy of your time and will help you become more skilled, more knowledgeable, and better equipped to make a positive impact on your community and the world. Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter week 9 of the school year.  You can find this communication on www.computechstudents.com under the “Announcements” tab. This week we will begin on Monday with even block schedule. Students will be attending periods 2, 4, 6, and 8 tomorrow, and then attending odd block periods on Tuesday.

The first quarter ended last Friday, October 9th. Unfortunately, the district grading system, ATLAS, went down last Friday.  District will be sending out first quarter report cards via email and those should be expected to come out at the end of this week.

This week we begin with a very small cohort of some of our students. To be clear, the goal with this first small cohort is to ensure they have a safe and reliable place to access internet and meals. They are continuing with distance learning-- this is not in-person instruction. We will reach out to families directly should your student be in one of our future designated cohorts.

This coming week, Counselor Ortiz will be presenting on School of Choice and High School Pathways.   All 8th grade students are expected to attend one of the two sessions.  One will be on Tuesday October 13th at 2:20 and another will be on Wednesday October 14th at 2:20.  The presentation will take place on Teams.  All 8th grade students were sent a meeting invitation this past Thursday.

We are now able to check out books from the Library. There is a tutorial on the Library page of computechstudents.com demonstrating how to request books. Students can pick up books Monday through Friday from 8am-3:45pm. If you have questions, you can call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758.

If you want your student to have access to the ASES After School Program, please go to the link on the Computech website under the After School tab and fill out the enrollment survey. Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. Our Librarian, Mrs. Ward, has been very helpful with technology and device distribution and you can contact her during the school day on her Google line at 549-3758.

Your quote of the week from Mahatma Gandhi, “Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.”  We value innovation, and different perspectives lead to better ideas, and greater accomplishments, when we learn to work together.  Our diversity allows us to learn from one another and become better.  It is important that all of you know that you are valued and appreciated, and we expect our Tigers to help one another to be the best we can be, including students, staff, and families.  Look to lift one another, and in so doing, you will also reach new heights.  Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett, with your weekly update as we enter week 8 of the school year.  You can find this communication on www.computechstudents.com under the “Announcements” tab. This week we will begin on Monday with odd block schedule. Students will be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 tomorrow, and then attending even block periods on Tuesday.

The first quarter ends this Friday, October 9th. If students or parents have questions, we encourage you to reach out to teachers via email, or setup a virtual meeting during teacher office hours. As class time is precious, we respectfully ask parents to setup times during office hours with teachers and not interrupt class time for students. You can email teachers directly from ATLAS by clicking on the teacher’s name in the Summary page where it lists students’ classes. Please communicate with your teachers early in the week regarding your grades.

This last Friday we had a Club Rush event online for students to find out about clubs that are currently meeting, and to take a survey about clubs we may offer moving forward.  You can see that presentation and submit a survey at the end of the presentation by clicking on the link here: Club Rush Presentation  We encourage students to get involved.

Mr. Brown continues with our Tiger Lunchtime Lounge. You can join the fun by going into Teams, clicking on “Join or Create Teams”, and entering the code, zx8uc04. This week we have Bingo.  The student with the most wins at the end of the week will have a pizza sent to their house.

Our School Site Council has their first meeting this coming Wednesday, October 7th at 6pm.  This meeting is held virtually.  The agenda for the School Site Council Meeting is attached here.  If you would like to attend the meeting, please email Mr. Berrett at Bradley.Berrett@fresnounified.org to receive a link to the meeting.

This last Friday, Fresno Unified Superintendent Bob Nelson shared that the district is taking a methodical, phased in approach of returning students to campus.  Due to physical distancing requirements of 6 feet, we are not able to bring ALL students back at this time. For the remainder of the first semester, the district will be focused on phasing in small, stable cohorts of some of our highest-need students including foster and homeless youth, students with disabilities and our English language newcomers. To be clear, the goal with this first small cohort is to ensure they have a safe and reliable place to access internet and meals. They are continuing with distance learning-- this is not in-person instruction. As our superintendent shared, these targeted cohorts will start VERY small.  When Fresno Unified has the green light from our health experts and agreement with our labor partners, the district will bring back additional small groups of targeted, high-need students. We will reach out to families directly should your student be in one of our future designated cohorts. To hear Superintendent Nelson’s full video message, parents can visit www.fresnounified.org or one of the district’s social media platforms.

Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm at 457-2640 if you are in need of support, or if you need a device, you can reach out to our site. Our Librarian, Mrs. Ward, has been very helpful with technology and device distribution and you can contact her during the school day on her Google line at 549-3758.

Your quote of the week from an unknown author, “Train your mind to see the good in the everything.  Positivity is a choice.  The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”  Recognize good things in the world, and when you see them, share them with others. Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!
