Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett. I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and were able to enjoy time with loved ones, even if it was over the phone or internet. My family enjoyed visiting on the phone with family, and though it was not our traditional extended family gathering, it was nice to spend time with immediate family. We return with just 3 weeks left in the semester as we enter week 15. This week we will begin on Monday with odd block schedule. Students will be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 tomorrow, and then attending even block periods on Tuesday.

Second quarter progress reports were sent out by our district the week prior to break to students’ Fresno Unified emails. As a reminder, parents can access their student’s grades at any time through the ATLAS Parent portal.  There is a video tutorial that was placed on computechstudents.com under “For Parents” and then you can click on “Helpful Tips for Parents” to view the video. Students, it is very important for you to communicate with your teachers this week to make sure you know what you need to do to be successful as we finish this semester strong. Please look through your assignments in ATLAS and read your teacher’s syllabus and directions, and reach out if you have questions.

A reminder that Tutor.com is available outside of class hours. Students can access the service by logging into Clever and selecting tutor.com. Our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. Students can utilize it at their convenience.

This week we have student body officer elections taking place. We ask that students be respectful of one another during their online campaigns, and ask teachers for permission prior to posting during online class time. Elections will be made available online for students to take beginning December 2nd.

Attention School Site Council members. This coming Wednesday, December 2nd, we will be holding our third School Site Council Meeting.  The agenda for that meeting is attached here.

Computech spirit wear and gear is now available for purchase online. You can order items by going to computechstudents.com and clicking on the banner on the main page where it says “Student Store,” to order directly from our distributor.

A reminder that our Tiger Pantry also remains available to students that have needs, including clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. That is found on our school website under “For Students.”

To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758.

Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640.

Your quote of the week from Princess Diana, “Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.” This holiday season, may we show gratitude for the good people and things in our lives, and then look to improve the lives of others by giving of what we have. It does not have to be material things, it could be an encouraging letter or email to someone, a wave to someone as they pass by, a compliment, or an act of service. Tigers, let’s look for ways to perform acts of kindness. Have a great week!

Your quote of the week from Oprah Winfrey, “If you look at what you have in life, you’ll always have more. If you look at what you don’t have in life, you’ll never have enough.” As we move closer to Thanksgiving, I hope all of us will consider what we have to be grateful for, and then share with others. In the words of William Arthur Ward, “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” In that spirit, we invite our staff and students to participate in our “What are you Thankful For?” selfie activity. Have a great evening and let’s show gratitude this week Tigers!

I am grateful for the civility demonstrated by our students and families as election results came out. Thank you for remaining focused on learning and staying positive in your interactions. Regardless of individual perspectives, we have seen our students act with kindness and respect. In honor of Native American Heritage Month, your quote of the week from the Apache Tribe, “It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.” May our actions speak much louder than our words in learning, improving, and serving. Our office remains open between 8am and 4pm. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640.

This week we find out the results of the Presidential election.  We encourage families to exercise your right to vote. We also ask that our students and families respect one another’s perspectives and decisions, and treat one another with kindness, regardless of the outcomes of the election, and find ways to bring unity rather than division, especially at school, were we value and expect an inclusive environment. In that spirit,  your quote of the week  from Jesse Jackson, “Inclusion is not a matter of political correctness. It is the key to growth.” We become better as we learn from one another’s perspectives and seek to improve individually and collectively, as a school, community, nation, and world. Have a Great Week and Go Tigers!
