Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett. It was a joy to see some of our 7th and 8th grade students on campus this last week. It brings life back to the campus and smiles to our faces to see our students. We are now headed into week 31. Monday we have advisory at 9am and asynchronous learning following, with small targeted cohorts from 9:30am-12:30pm. Tuesday through Friday schedules will remain the same. All students in cohort A will be in person on Tuesday and Wednesday, while cohort B students will attend in person on Thursday and Friday. For students in cohorts A and B, a reminder that we need to remain socially distanced and wear masks while on campus. Prior to coming to campus, all students must take the health screener. If a student does not feel well on campus, we have to call parents to pick up the student, as they will not be able to ride the bus if they do not feel well. You can view the reopening PowerPoint on www.computechstudents.com for more details. Transportation schedules are on www.fresnounified.org and we have also put them up on our website at www.computechstudents.com. Please note there is a schedule for Tuesday-Friday in the morning for transportation to Edison/Computech and then there is a schedule for Tuesday-Friday in the afternoon for routes home. There is a separate schedule for Monday targeted groups. For parents that drop off students, please see the map on our website. We ask that cars enter from church and Fairview, enter into the East Parking lot just north of the Hinton Center, circle through the parking lot, and drop your student off nearest the double gates. This helps to keep traffic flowing. At the end of each day, students that are picked up need to be near the east parking lot, while those that are riding the bus must report to the cafeteria where they are to wait until buses arrive. This ensures that students are supervised and safe. Students should not be wandering off campus or to the high school. This week our 4th quarter sports have tryouts. Students interested should visit our athletics page on www.computechstudents.com/athletics. There you can find schedules for each of the sports, along with contact information for coaches. Students must have an athletic packet turned in to be able to participate in tryouts and practices. There will be one athletic bus that departs at 4:15pm, but will be taking all students home, making multiple stops around the district, so we encourage athletes to be picked up when possible to avoid a very long ride home with a late arrival. Once games start, athletes will need to get picked up on game days as there will not be buses available to take students home on game days. Our Tiger Pantry is available for students that may have needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene items. You can put in a request on our website at computechstudents.com under “For Students.” Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office. Our quote of the week from novelist, Gail Tsukiyama, "Don’t ever think that just because you do things differently, you’re wrong." We all have our own unique talents and perspectives that make us who we are. Sharing those perspectives and talents with others is how we make a better world. Consider this week something that you might do differently than others and what you can learn from, or teach to others to increase in knowledge. Have a great week Tigers!

Finally, I would like to take a moment to share that Computech is one of just 5 secondary schools in Fresno County that is being recognized as a California Distinguished School. This award is given to schools that have closed the achievement gap and demonstrate exceptional student performance. This is a testament to the work of our teachers, supporting staff, students, and families. Thank you for continuing to strive to do your best, despite challenges. Which leads me to our quote of the week from Albert Einstein, “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” This last year has been challenging, but we are learning through our experiences. I hope that you have found strengths within yourself that you may not have known before, and an ability to overcome adversity. Look for the opportunities each day, look for the wins, for the good in the world, and let’s share those to encourage those around us. Remember, attitude determines altitude. Have a great week Tigers! Bus schedules have been updated on www.fresnounified.org. Click here to view Computech's bus schedules that begin on April 6, 2021.
Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

Quarter 3 concluded last Friday, and our district will begin sending all report cards through emailed to the student’s district email address starting on March 30th. Tomorrow, Monday, March 22, students will have advisory class beginning at 9am over Teams. It is important that students login on time, as teachers will be taking attendance for the day. Following advisory, students will be working on asynchronous assignments from each of their classes. Our students in targeted support groups will come in again from 9:30-12:30 with their small cohort. Immediately after advisory, our counselors will be sharing the last workshop in our Student Success Strategies Series on self-advocacy and school resources. We will be restarting the series as well as adding lessons around mindfulness, stress, and coping skills. Students can access those meetings over Teams through the Counseling Teams, and the links will be shared by advisory teachers. On Tuesday, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday. Following this week is Spring Break, during which time students will not have school. We will resume on Tuesday, April 6th, at which time, 7th grade students that have chosen to return, will be on a hybrid schedule. Those that chose to remain distance will continue in the same way they do now. Our 8th grade students that chose a hybrid option to be in person will begin the following week, April 13th. We continue to develop plans and guidelines for a safe return of students to campus following the break, for those that chose to be in person. You can expect to see a lot of information this week regarding the reopening of schools as we receive schedules and more detailed information from district. We will begin posting items mid to late week with regard to campus maps, diagrams, plans, and transportation once it is received, so that students that are planning to be on campus can begin looking through with their families. We will be putting out additional messengers this week as those plans are posted to our website. School Site Council Members, we will be meeting this week on Wednesday, March 24th to look over the Single Plan for Student Achievement. That meeting is over Zoom at 6pm. Parents: every year, our Federal Government and State requires us to inform parents of the current year’s statewide assessment and provide them with an opportunity to opt out. As you know, our Fresno Unified students are mandated to take statewide tests to provide us with valuable information about how well they are learning and becoming college and career ready. The test results are used for local, state, and federal accountability purposes. Please review the attached letter in English, Spanish, or Hmong, and please call our school if you have any questions: 559-457-2640 . Thank you. To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 549-3758. Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. We highly encourage students to use these resources. March is arts in our schools month. Our quote of the week from renowned painter, Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” Students, we encourage you to continue to use your imaginations, to aspire to greatness, and continue to be creative in your approach to the world and how to improve it. Have a great week Tigers! Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

For information on those schedules, please go to our website and on the main page is a PowerPoint presentation that shares what that looks like. You can also find information at www.fresnounified.org/covid19. Families may choose to have their student continue in distance learning in the current format, or can elect to have their student come 2 days each week in person, and the remainder of the time will be over distance learning. Our class schedules will remain exactly the same and teachers will be teaching students simultaneously. Our district has sent out a survey that needs to be completed by Tuesday, March 16th, so that we know which students will return in a hybrid format and which students will continue over distance. That link is in the PowerPoint on our website as well as on district’s website. For the remainder of this school year, we will be following the Fresno Unified Standard of Dress. We do not want to place an undue hardship on our families with our standard of dress in light of the circumstances. We do expect to return to Computech standard of dress for the next school year. A reminder that items must not promote drugs, violence, or vulgarity, in order to be school appropriate. Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please call ahead and park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office. March is arts in our schools month. Students, join us in the lunchtime lounge this week and participate in an art contest to draw a member of our Computech Staff. The art piece with the most likes will earn you a pizza prize. Our quote of the week comes from former First Lady, Michelle Obama, “The arts and humanities define who we are as a people. That is their power -- to remind us of what we each have to offer, and what we all have in common. To help us understand our history and imagine our future. To give us hope in the moments of struggle and to bring us together when nothing else will.” We would all do well to remember the things that we have in common, our humanity, our care and concern for one another, and our desire to live peaceably, to give and receive kindness, and to be of value to others. Despite challenging times, let’s show our human kindness. Have a great week Tigers! Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

Each person you meet has inherent value, let’s treat one another accordingly. See the value in yourself and others and help others to do the same. Have a great week Tigers! Families, Parent University has workshops continuing this week. Please see the attached flyer for links to workshops. Tuesday is Advanced Microsoft Teams, Wednesday is Social and Emotional Development, and Thursday is Positive Discipline II. We highly encourage families to attend these workshops as they provide information in how to support students and families. Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. We highly encourage students to use these resources. To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 549-3758. Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please call ahead and park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office. In honor of Black History Month, our quote of the week comes from recently departed actress, Cicely Tyson, “Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew.” In the face of great opposition and difficulty lies great opportunity. We often find our strengths as we walk through trials. Know that you can overcome any obstacle, and that we are here to help. We are all in this together. Have a great week Tigers! |
