Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett. Our Computech Family hopes that you have all had a wonderful winter break and a happy holiday season, though it may have been different than years past. We are happy to welcome you back to the second semester of the school year, even if it is not how we had hoped to resume. We will begin the second semester with all students over distance learning. As a result of the current Covid-19 case rate and the Governor’s direction, we will not have any cohorts of students on campus while the stay at home order is in place.

As was shared prior to the break, our schedules within Fresno Unified have changed, and details of those changes can be found on our website at www.computechstudents.com under General Information and Bells. Mondays we will have advisory meetings for all students from 9-9:30am, and the remainder of the day will be asynchronous independent work for each of your classes. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be odd block schedules and Wednesdays and Fridays will be even block schedules. Our times for our daily schedules have not changed, and will remain the same as the first semester on Tuesday through Friday.

This Monday, January 11th, is a staff professional learning day, so there is no school for students. Students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7 on Tuesday, January 12th. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday. As a reminder, next Monday we observe the holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr, so there is no school on that Monday.

As we begin this new semester, we encourage students to be engaged, to actively participate in class through use of unmuting and responding online, use of the chat, as well as email. Communication is a critical factor to your success, especially in distance learning. Families, we encourage your partnership with us by checking Atlas for assignments and speaking with your student about their classes, their learning, and their progress. We are in the midst of making adjustments to our staff page on our website to create a more consistent method for viewing weekly agendas and assignments by clicking on each teacher’s image and being able to view their agendas, expectations, and contact information. Be on the lookout for that to be updated during this week.

Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm
Our Tiger Pantry remains available to students that have needs, including clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. That is found on our school website under “For Students.”

To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758.

Our main office remains open between 8am and 4pm. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you need to visit our office, you are able to park in our new visitor parking lot off Belgravia, directly in front of the office. Please make sure that you conduct a self-health screener prior to coming to campus, and it is helpful if you would call ahead to let us know you are coming.

Our quote of the week from Martin Luther King Jr., “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” With the recent events that have taken place over the last week in society, I would like to remind our Tigers that hate and violence do not solve problems. We can and must be better than what we have seen taking place, and we do so by seeking understanding and knowledge, and by communicating in productive ways. Our school must be a safe place for all of our students and staff. We value all perspectives and voices, and want what is best for all of our Tigers and their families. Though we may have different ideas, we become better when we seek to understand one another and honor and respect one another’s ideas, cultures, beliefs, and perspectives. Have a great week, and welcome back Tigers!
