Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett. I hope you have all enjoyed your 3-day weekend in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a powerful force for good in promoting equity, kindness, and love for another. We would do well to look for ways to improve the world by promoting these values. As we strive to prepare our students for their future, it is very important that students attend every class and actively participate in their learning. Students, please begin this semester the right way by attending meetings, asking questions, turning in assignments, and when you are able, by unmuting and speaking, and interacting with your teachers and peers in productive ways. Families, please encourage your students to be focused on their learning during the school day, and ask them to check ATLAS for grades and assignments that they are completing to demonstrate their learning. We must work together to be successful, especially over distance learning. In an effort to support our students and families, we have adjusted our staff page at www.computechstudents.com. This is where families are now able to click on a teacher’s agenda and syllabus link below their picture to view that teacher’s contact information, syllabus, weekly agenda, and office hours. You do not need a password to access this information, as it is public. Please take some time to view the page and view the agendas for the week with your student. There is a brief video on our website under “For Families” and “Tips for Families.” Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 19th, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday. As a reminder, next Monday, January 25th, will be the first asynchronous work day that students will have. They will be attending their advisory class from 9 to 9:30am that morning. Students can see their advisory teacher on ATLAS and on their schedule for period 0 advisory for that day. There will be reminders about this next week. Our 7th grade students will soon be taking the second iReady diagnostic in Math and English. This helps us to monitor learning progress and plan for future instruction. We ask that students give a good effort to complete these in a timely manner, as some of the diagnostic may be assigned to them to work on independently. Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. Our Tiger Pantry is available to students that have needs, including clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. That is found on our school website under “For Students.” To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758. We encourage students to read regularly, as this helps to improve literacy skills. Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you need to visit our office, you are able to park in our new visitor parking lot off Belgravia, directly in front of the office. Please make sure that you conduct a self-health screener prior to coming to campus, and it is helpful if you would call ahead to let us know you are coming. Our quote of the week from Martin Luther King Jr., “Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?” How are we trying to make the world a better place? Who are we serving and how are we helping others in their lives, and improving ourselves in order to be of greater service? Treat one another with kindness and look for opportunities to learn about others and their stories, and then look for ways to serve others. It will bless your lives and the lives of others, and make this world a better place. Have a great week Tigers!
