Week 20: 1-24-21

Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,

This is Principal Berrett with your weekly message as we enter week 20 of the school year. This week we begin on Monday with advisory class scheduled from 9-9:30am. Students can see their advisory teacher on their schedule in ATLAS. Students will join their advisory class in Microsoft Teams, where attendance will be taken and teachers will be connecting with our students. Advisory is a time to build connections and develop social emotional learning skills. It is important that all students join their advisory lesson, as that is our attendance taking course for the day. The rest of Monday for students will be spent doing asynchronous learning. This is independent work that is assigned for each class. Teachers have assigned 30 minutes of work per class. These are expected to be completed independently, and are part of our instructional minutes for the week. As a reminder, you can find our teacher’s weekly agendas by going to www.computechstudents.com and then clicking on the Staff page, and then looking for your teachers, and clicking on “Agenda and Syllabus” under each teacher’s name. There is a brief video on our website under “For Families” and “Tips for Families,” and you may call our office if you need assistance.

On Tuesday, January 26th, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday.

Our 7th grade students began taking the second iReady diagnostic in Math and English. This helps us to monitor learning progress and plan for future instruction. We ask that students give a good effort to complete these in a timely manner, as are now assigned to work on the diagnostic independently.

Letters are being sent home this week to students that earned academic recognition during the first semester. We are proud of your efforts, Tigers, and encourage you to continue to pursue excellence. We also have letters that will be sent home with resources for students that struggled during the first semester.

This week is Kindness week. We invite all students to share a kind thought to our kindness board at the following link: http://bit.ly/KindTigers. Students can also add to our kindness collage at: http://bit.ly/ComputechTigerSpirit. We have a goal of 500 kindness posts this week, but I think we could reach 1,000.

Families, Fresno Unified is holding meetings for our Local Control and Accountability Plan, in which you have an opportunity to share input on how budgets are allocated. Edison region’s LCAP meeting is on February 2nd at 6pm. Please see the attached flyer (also listed below this message), or visit fresnounified.org for more information.

Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm

Our Tiger Pantry is available to students that have needs, including clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies. That is found on our school website under “For Students.”

To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 559-549-3758.

Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you need to visit our office, you are able to park in our new visitor parking lot off Belgravia, directly in front of the office. Please make sure that you conduct a self-health screener prior to coming to campus, and it is helpful if you would call ahead to let us know you are coming.

Our quote of the week from Mahatma Gandhi, “Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” Our school and teachers work to teach students to think critically and creatively. There is power and potential in diverse thinking that comes from different experiences and understanding. We improve together when we are able to share the best of those ideas with one another. Keep learning, wondering, and sharing ideas. Have a great week Tigers!
