Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett wishing your family a happy President’s Day weekend. As we enter week 23 of the school year, we do have a couple updates regarding small cohorts. Our cohort of students that was previously on campus prior to Thanksgiving, will once again be able to return to campus beginning Monday, February 22nd. We are calling the families involved in that cohort. Additionally, we are projected to bring in a few Monday targeted support groups beginning March 8th. We will begin making phone calls to families for a few Monday cohorts in the coming weeks. As a reminder, all students will remain learning over distance learning. These cohorts are additional supports for small groups of 10 to get additional help. For the most up to date information on reopening plans, please visit www.fresonunified.org.
Progress reports are being emailed out to students’ Fresno Unified email addresses this week. Families, please take some time to review your student’s progress with them, and reach out to teachers and counselors for support if needed.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 16th, students will attend odd period classes, 1, 3, 5, and 7. They will be attending even period classes on Wednesday, odd classes on Thursday, and even classes on Friday.
Well done to our Tiger Theater company on their performance of “8 Ways to Survive a Quarantine” last Friday. It was a delightful comedy delivered over Zoom. Thank you for all of your hard work in creating a fun evening. If you missed it, you can view the video here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VbvzGFtiV3nb9IpojRCZRMuWeVhdIAHd/view

Students, we have another opportunity for you to share your talents. Our Black Student Union, Leadership, and Art Classes are hosting an Art Contest in honor of Black History Month. The theme is “Celebration of Black Families, Past and Present.” We are asking for submissions that celebrate the diversity of African American Families, while honoring tradition and culture. As with all of our School Spirit Activities, you can submit your artwork at the following link: http://bit.ly/ComputechTigerSpirit.
Our Black Student Union Club meets every Tuesday at lunch, and is excited to share that we have guest speakers that will be joining us. One of those speakers is Robert Fox, retired Vice President of Student Services at Fresno City College, who was recently honored and will be speaking over Zoom on February 16th at 12:30pm the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88928913865?pwd=d1hUSnVsdkQ3TCtRTEZOMXFYcTBXZz09. We invite any and all students and family members that are interested to attend.
For students interested in participating in Tournament of Technology, Mr. Piffero and Mr. Vizthum are beginning to recruit teams of students. Please contact them or click on the banner message on our school website if you are interested in participating in various technology competitions.
Families, Parent University has workshops continuing this week. Please see the attached flyer for links to workshops. Tuesday is Advanced Microsoft Teams, Wednesday is Social and Emotional Development, and Thursday is Positive Discipline II. We highly encourage families to attend these workshops as they provide information in how to support students and families.
Tutor.com is still available through Clever and our ASES After School Program is available through Teams each day between 2:45 and 5:30pm. We highly encourage students to use these resources.
To check out books from our Library, students can go to the Library tab on our website, or call or text our librarian, Mrs. Ward, at 549-3758.
Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please call ahead and park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office.
In honor of Black History Month, our quote of the week comes from recently departed actress, Cicely Tyson, “Challenges make you discover things about yourself that you never really knew.” In the face of great opposition and difficulty lies great opportunity. We often find our strengths as we walk through trials. Know that you can overcome any obstacle, and that we are here to help. We are all in this together. Have a great week Tigers!
