Good Evening Computech Tiger Families,
This is Principal Berrett with your weekly announcements as we head into week 32. This week our district office plans to send progress reports through student emails. Please check in with your student about their grades. Let’s finish up the year strong Tigers!
Monday we have advisory at 9am and asynchronous learning following, with small targeted cohorts from 9:30am-12:30pm. Tuesday through Friday schedules will remain the same. All students in cohort A will be in person on Tuesday and Wednesday, while cohort B students will attend in person on Thursday and Friday. Please remember that students have classes every day, whether in person or online.
This week students will be taking an iReady diagnostic. All students, whether in person or online, will attend their advisory classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cohort A students will be on campus in person on those days, other students will be online through Teams with their advisory teacher. English will be given on Tuesday and Math on Wednesday. Students will have the entire day to work on each diagnostic. Thursday and Friday will be normal scheduled classes. If students need additional time, Core and Math classes will provide time to complete the diagnostic. This is the only standardized assessment that students will take, and we encourage all students to give their best effort. This helps us to determine how prepared our students are for future placement in courses, and how to best meet their learning needs.
Students that pre-ordered Jamba Juice last week will have them delivered during lunch this week. Students in cohort A have a Wednesday, May 5th delivery, and cohort B will have a Friday, May 7th delivery. These will be available in the quad during lunch.
This week we have online lunch activities Monday-Friday on Teams. On Wednesday cohort A will have lunchtime activities on the grass areas and cohort B will have the same activities on Thursday as a student rally, put on by Leadership. We encourage students to get involved.
Our 4th quarter sports continue to practice this week. Students interested should visit our athletics page on www.computechstudents.com/athletics. There you can find schedules for each of the sports, along with contact information for coaches. Softball has a game this coming Thursday at Baird. Other sports will begin competitions next week, starting on May 10th.
At the end of each day, students that are picked up need to be near the east parking lot, while those that are riding the bus must report to the cafeteria where they are to wait until buses arrive. This ensures that students are supervised and safe. Students should not be wandering off campus or to the high school.
This week is teacher appreciation week. We are fortunate to have talented, experienced, and caring teachers. Students, we encourage you to let your teachers know the things that you appreciate about them. Thank you to our teachers for always giving your best to support students. We have provided small self-care bags for our staff as a small gesture of thanks.
Our main office is open between 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. If you are in need of support, you can call us at 457-2640. In the event that you are coming to the office, please park in the visitor’s lot directly in front of the office.
In honor of mental health awareness month, our quote of the week from former First Lady, Michelle Obama, “At the root of this dilemma is the way we view mental health in this country. Whether an illness affects your heart, your leg or your brain, it’s still an illness, and there should be no distinction.” When we see others physically hurt, we often offer help and support. May we offer kindness and support when we recognize others suffering mentally or emotionally as well. If you are in need of support, please reach out for help. Have a great week Tigers!
