Awards & Recognition

National Blue Ribbon School (1991, 1996, 2002, 2010, 2016)
Blue Ribbon Schools are nationally recognized as some of America's most successful schools. The award acknowledges and validates the hard work of students, staff members, families, and communities in reaching high levels of student achievement. Moreover, Blue Ribbon Schools report a renewed sense of pride and accomplishment at their school. They may be sought out as mentors to others schools or may find that receiving grants and raising funds is a little easier. Communities often report that the award makes their neighborhood a more desirable place to live because parents want their children to attend a Blue Ribbon School—and real estate agents use the Blue Ribbon award as a selling point for those neighborhoods.

Intel School of Distinction Finalist, Science (2010 & 2012)
The Schools of Distinction honors schools in science that provide a rich science curriculum incorporating hands-on investigative experiences that prepare students for 21st century jobs. Programs encourage student achievement in sciences and engineering, while simultaneously helping students become knowledgeable consumers of news and data in order to be active and informed citizens. The Schools of Distinction honors schools in mathematics that offer their students a rigorous, challenging and engaging program that teaches mathematics skills and how to apply them to solve real-life problems, approach projects as a member of a team, and communicate succinctly on the subject.

California Distinguished School (1986, 1990, 1994, 1999, 2003, 2009)
A California Distinguished School is an award given by the California State Board of Education to public schools within the state that best represent exemplary and quality educational programs. Approximately five percent of California schools are awarded this honor each year following a rigorous selection process. Eligibility is based on federal and state criteria including the No Child Left Behind program, Academic Performance Index (API), and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).

Bonner Character Counts Award (2011)
The purpose behind our recognition award is to recognize exemplary local schools where practices and emphases have been planned to enhance the moral thinking and behavior of students. It is not specifically designed to compare schools, but rather to encourage all schools to participate in well-designed activities for students. Our expectation is that any school, regardless of its population or its philosophical orientation can offer well-planned programs that enable students to participate fully and become active in the school community.
